EUC Coimbra 2017 Opening and Closing Ceremonies

The European Universities Championships (Judo, Karate and Taekwondo) 2017 will have their Opening Ceremony on July 25th. The event will be held on the Universitary Stadium, the heart of the University Sports Complex, in Coimbra. While the Closing Ceremony will take place in Pavilion 1 on July 27th, the last day of competitions.

Both ceremonies will start with the athletes parade, organized by country in alphabetic order, besides Portugal who as host will be the last country on the parade.

 

The parade will be followed by speeches of the organizing institutions. After this moment, both athletes and referees will pledge their allegiance to this Championships and the ceremony will close with dancing (DNA Group) and music (Estudantina) which will be unveiled closer to the ceremony.

 

The European Universities Championships 2017 (Judo, Karate and Taekwondo) will be held in July, in Coimbra, Portugal, from the 25th to the 27th. This is one of the 19 European Universities Championships 2017 (EUC 2017), where 19 different sports promote the competition to find the best European athletes and teams in Universities Sport.

 

The competition will happen in Pavilion 1, 2 and 3 of Coimbra’s University Sport Complex, in the city centre. The venues were renewed in the last months and are ready to receive the about 600 athletes that will compete in these Championships. The EUC 2017 (Judo, Karate and Taekwondo) will also have about 150 officials and will have both male and female competition. 50 volunteers will also be key to the success of the event.

 

About 27 European countries and 230 universities of these countries will compete to become champions of these three European Universities Championships to be held in Coimbra. The three EUC events happen one year before the European Universities Games which will also take place in the University City of Coimbra.
