EUC Taekwondo 2017 with an olympic athlete among the participants

The competition is about to start in Coimbra. Tomorrow is the first day of the European Universities Championship Taekwondo 2017 where 157 athletes will compete during three days in Hall 2 of of Coimbra’s University Sport Complex, in the city centre.

 

Two years after the EUC 2015 Taekwondo, held in Opatija, in Croatia, Coimbra is the host city of this event, as well as the EUC 2017 in Judo and Karate. Both will take place at the same time of the EUC 2017 Taekwondo.

 

Rui Bragança, from Universidade do Minho, -63kg category, is the biggest name among all competitors. The Portuguese athlete as competed in Rio 2016 Olympic Games and has been in the top-10 World Ranking for some years now. In his career, Bragança has won the European Championship, European Games, medals in World Championships, Opens and Grand Prix tournaments.

 

Julio Ferreira, also from Universidade do Minho, -74kg, is other of the biggest contenders in EUC Taekwondo 2017, due to his career where one can find several medals in European Championships, Opens, Grand Prix and the European Games. Also among the contenders is Sana Akrimi from Paris-Est Créteil Val-de-Marne University, who has won the Bronze Medal in the European Championship in 2013 besides several medals in Open tournaments.

 

These are some of the most successful athletes among the 157 to compete in EUC Judo Coimbra 2017, from 83 universities representing 14 countries.
